Steel and tin will both rust while aluminum will not tarnish, rust or corrode. Additionally, tin is easily bent while plastic can crack. The aluminum we use (.080 gauge) is a heavy gauge generally specified by architects for most commercial and parking projects. DO I HAVE TO DRILL HOLES IN MY SIGNS IN ORDER TO INSTALL THEM? No. All of our signs are punched to make installation easy. They also have rounded corners to reduce injury caused by sharp corners and present a professional appearance. WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY “SHEETING”? When we refer to sheeting, we are talking about the reflective material applied to a sign. The sheeting we use is manufactured by 3M. Their reflective sheeting is approved for use by Department of Transportation agencies in virtually every state. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PRISMATIC ENGINEER AND HIGH INTENSITY SHEETING? We use three reflective sheetings: Prismatic Engineer, Prismatic High Intensity and Diamond Grade. Engineer Grade Prismatic reflective sheeting is designed for commercial and non-critical signs such as No Parking and Restricted Parking signs. This material has a performance life of 7 years. However, it may not meet federal minimum reflectivity levels over the life span of the sign. High Intensity Prismatic reflective sheeting is designed for traffic control signs and work zone signs such as Speed Limit signs, One Way signs and Street Name signs. It has a performance life of 10 years. Diamond Grade reflective sheeting is also used for traffic control signs. This material is twice as bright as High Intensity Prismatic material and has a life of 12 years. Diamond Grade fluorescent reflective sheetings uses prismatic and fluorescent technology to provide excellent visibility at dawn, dusk and during inclement weather. This sheeting combines the impact of fluorescent color for daytime driving with high reflectivity adding increased visibility for nighttime conditions. HELPFUL FACTS ABOUT REFLECTIVE SHEETING Sheeting refers to the reflective material applied to a sign. How reflective a sign is will depend on the type of sheeting used.
